Balangir: A section officer of Agalpur block in Odisha’s Balangir district, Prafulla Kumar Sa, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly amassing assets, 98 per cent more than his known sources of income.
The Vigilance sleuths raided three places in Balangir district on January 25.
A double-storey building at Gandhinagar pada, another at Hatpadapada and four plots in Balangir town, two two-wheelers, insurance deposits over Rs.3.19 lakh, bank deposits, gold and silver ornaments and other movable and immovable properties, all totalling over Rs 1.32 crore, were unearthed during the house search.
Following this, a case was registered against Sa and his wife under Sections 13(2) r/w 13(1)(b)/12 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act-2018. The section officer was arrested and produced in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, in Balangir, which remanded him to judicial custody till February 8.
