Bhubaneswar: With the budget session of the Odisha Assembly beginning from Tuesday, the commissionerate police has made elaborate security arrangements in and around the Assembly.
According to police, the entire Assembly premises would be kept under three-tier security which will be manned by a total of 25 platoons of armed police force. The security will be closely monitored by 100 police officers, three additional DCPs and the Bhubaneswar DCP,
Besides, the security personnel will have a close watch on the activities of the agitators at the Lower PMG Square where CCTV cameras will be installed.
Director General of Police (DGP) Dr RP Sharma said two control rooms have been set up to enable the security personnel for quick response to any untoward incident.
Police Commissioner YB Khurania said police has imposed section 144 at some sensitive places nearby the Assembly area. Besides, specific traffic arrangements have been made along the Mahatma Gandhi Marg during the Assembly session, he added.
He further said the Master Canteen-PMG Road would be sealed during the commencement of the Assembly session every day.
Khurania also said the police has started checking all hotels and lodges in and around the city railway station areas to know about the details of the guests.
“Apart from this, night blockings have started at sensitive locations in the city to keep track of suspicious movements,” he added.
