Security Beefed Up For New Year’s Eve Celebrations In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Security has been beefed up in Odisha capital for the Zero Night and New Year celebrations.

Speaking to the media, DCP Pinak Mishra on Friday said that all arrangements are being made to prevent any untoward incident during the celebration. “Drunken driving after celebrations has led to deadly mishaps in the past. So, there is need for awareness among people to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol. Do celebrate but also take care of your well being,” he said.

Mishra further revealed that the entire city is under CCTV surveillance. “Through CCTV surveillance, we will ensure that no disturbances occur during the celebrations. Those organising events at public places are required to get the necessary licence from the authorities concerned,” he said.

The DCP further stated that patrolling has been intensified in the city to check illegal drugs and liquor trade. ”

He said blocking and vehicle checking during night are held at regular intervals. “We have been conducted such preventive steps to check illegal activities,” he added.
