Nuapada: Security forces have seized a large amount of explosives including chocolate bombs from a Maoist camp in a reserve forest of Odisha’s Nuapada district.
Nuapada district SP GR Raghavendra told the media that the personnel of SOG, DVF and CRPF, during a joint combing operation, came across a Maoist camp in Patadaraha reserve forest near Nangalaghat village under Sinapali police limits.
Though the Maoists had deserted the camp apparently on sighting security forces, they left behind explosives and other materials. The security forces seized 5 kg of explosive materials, 20 chocolate bombs, medicines, packets of chips, cold drink and other food products from the camp.
Following this, the security forces have intensified the combing operation to trace the absconding Maoists in the area which is located on the border with Chhattisgarh, said the SP.
Meanwhile, the security forces have killed a Maoists in an encounter in a forest under Bheramgarh police limits in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. Huge amount of explosives and Maoist materials were also seized from the site of encounter.
