Deogarh: A search operation is on to nab Maoists inside Rukura forest in Odisha’s Deogarh district.
According to the sources, the operation was launched on Saturday following an intelligence input about movement of the Red rebels in the forest.
Security personnel, comprising Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF), are engaged the operation.
On Sunday at around 8.20 am, the Maoists opened fire on the security forces. Later, around 22 armed Maoists fled the hideout. The search operation is still on and the forces are trying to nab them alive.
No casualty has been reported from the either side so far.
During the operation, security forces seized several arms and ammunition along with other materials. These include one 9 mm carbine, one 9 mm carbine magazine, 10 rounds of 9 mm ball ammunitions, one set 7.62 mm SLR bridge block, a 7.62 mm SLR magazine, three rounds of 7.62 mm ball ammunition, an axe, a knife, a solar plate, a computer keyboard, two umbrellas, two medicine boxes, two saline bottles, four Maoist literature books, one water carrier jarkin, two steel plates, two rifle sling hook brass and five bags containing dry food.
