Cuttack: A driver of 108 ambulance was allegedly thrashed by a security guard at SCB. Medical College and Hospital in Odisha’s Cuttack city.
According to sources, a heated argument took place between security guard Ratnakar Sahoo and ambulance driver Biswajeet Maharana, when the latter arrived at the hospital with a patient from Jajpur district.
Thereafter, Sahoo took him to the Medical Police Outpost and thrashed him. Maharana informed the hospital authorities about the incident following which Ratnakar admitted to having thrashed the driver, in presence of the security superintendent.
“Maharana was suspended on Wednesday and the managing director has been asked to hire somebody efficient as a replacement,” the hospital authorities told the media.
A stern warning has been issued against hiring Maharana, who was later detained by police, for the job at SCB again.
“The security guard had a spat with the ambulance drivers earlier. A miscellaneous case was also lodged at Mangalabag police station regarding the matter. Strict lawful action will be taken against the security guard,” Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said.
The DCP further said that the accused will be issued a notice under section 41 of CrPC.
