Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police has put in place heavy security in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on May 26.
As many as 100 platoons of police force (80 in Cuttack and 20 in Bhubaneswar) will be deployed as a part of the security arrangements.
Special arrangements have also been made for traffic management and there will be few diversions on different routes to prevent road congestion during the Prime Minister’s visit.
Besides, cascade rehearsal will be conducted to avoid last minute hiccups.
On Thursday, a high-level meeting was held at Biju Patnaik International Airport here where PM Modi is scheduled to land on May 26 before leaving for Cuttack to address a public gathering at Baliyatra Ground.
Apart from that, a mock land drill was conducted by Indian Air Force at a makeshift helipad constructed near Naraj, where PM Modi’s helicopter is scheduled to land.
Earlier on Wednesday, a seven-member team of Special Protection Group (SPG) had taken stock of security arrangements at Baliyatra Ground in Cuttack.
On the other hand, Maoists have put posters opposing the Prime Minister’s Odisha visit at different places in Kalimela of Malkangiri district.
A poster was found struck to a tree near a wall of the bus stand and another pasted on a tree near tehsil office.
