Bhubaneswar: Taking note of the recent assaults on a journalist and three girl students inside two cinema hall premises in Bhubaneswar, the Commissionerate Police has decided to step up security in all cinema halls in the city.
“Recently there were two incidents in two cinema halls in Bhubaneswar where a journalist was assaulted by some youths and three girl students were thrashed by a youth. In these two incidents, police have taken action and arrested the accused. To ensure that no such incidents would take place in future, the DGP had directed the Commissionerate Police to assess the security measures at cinema halls for safety of the viewers, including women and college girls. It has been decided that a team of police would be deployed at all cinema hall premises in the city,” Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu told mediapersons here on Tuesday.
He also said that the police will have a discussion with the cinema hall owners on this matter. We will ask them to install CCTV to monitor any act of hooliganism, eve-teasing and selling of tickets on black market. Besides, they will also be asked to inform the police at the earliest in case of any violence.
