Bhubaneswar: Security measures have been tightened in Odisha capital on the eve of Independence Day celebration.
Speaking to media persons on the security arrangements in the city on Sunday, Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said elaborate security arrangement is in place at Exhibition Ground, the venue of state-level parade.
He said Bhubaneswar Police is keeping close watch on the people coming to the city at different entry points since Saturday. The police personnel were verifying the identity and credentials of the guests who have checked in different hotels and carrying out checking at railway stations and bus terminus, he added.
Singh further said total 15 platoons of police force would be deployed at the parade venue. As many as 45 ASIs, 20 inspectors, 6 ACPs, and 5 additional DCPS will be in charge of the security arrangement.
It may be noted that this year also Independence Day parade will be held with restrictions on public participation due to COVID. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will hoist the Tricolour at the Exhibition Ground with number of guests limited to 50 only.
