Security Tightened In Odisha’s Malkangiri As Maoist Martyrs’ Week Begins Today

Malkangiri: With the Maoists set to observe Martyrs’ Week from Tuesday, combing operation by security personnel has been intensified in Malkangiri district to avoid any untoward incident.

The security forces have been deployed in the forest interiors of all Maoist-hit areas.

The Maoists observe the week from July 28 to August 3 to pay tributes to their leaders besides recruiting and organising meetings.

With the possibility of Maoists targeting police stations, BSF and police personnel have intensified combing operations in cut-off areas and Maoist-hit belt.

Top-level Left-wing leaders like Benu gave a call to its cadres to observe the martyr’s week till August 3. The personnel are determined not to allow the Maoists to conduct any programmes.
