Malkangiri: Security personnel have seized a huge cache of explosives from a forest in Malkangiri district, police said on Friday.
The Malkangiri SP, Rishikesh Khilari, said personnel from BSF’s 76 Battalion had found a pit under a tree during a routine combing operation in Rajankonda forest under Kalimela police limits on Thursday afternoon. The dug up the pit and recovered about 21 kg of gelatin kept inside a bag.
“Gelatin is used in landmines and Maoists hid these explosives to target security personnel,” the SP said.
He added that combing operation has been intensified in the area to track down the left wing extremists.
