Rayagada: A youth, identified as Bilal Ansari, slipped into water on Sunday while he was taking a selfie on his mobile phone. He has been missing since then.
The Uttar Pradesh youth who has been residing in the town for quite some time could not prevent himself from the temptation of taking a selfie on the banks of River Nagavali, the lifeline of Rayagada town.
Bilal, who works as a food vendor, went to the Hanging Bridge across the river to capture the scenic beauty of Nagavali Sunday afternoon along with a friend but his passion for photography, apparently, cost him his dear life.
Ansari was swept away as he went into the river to take a selfie, oblivious of the river’s heavy current in the hilly area. In seconds, he slipped into the deep water and he was heard no more.
His friend reported the matter to Rayagada Police. Fire Services personnel launched a search operation for him on Monday morning on the basis of the complaint. However, Ansari could not be traced till now.
