Bhubaneswar: As Diwali nears, Bhubaneswar vendors have started selling different varieties of lights and lamps.
With the Odisha government banning firecrackers in the state and the prolonged lockdown having resulted in huge losses, the sellers are hopeful of doing good business during Diwali. “Not as good as last five years but business is getting better gradually,” Sujit, a decorative lights shopkeeper, told ANI.
“Customer response has been good. It’s Diwali. We hope sales will come back on track,” he added.
Handmade rainbow and metallic lights are in high demand in Odisha this year.
“There’s good demand for rainbow lights, LED lights, string lights, metal shadow lights, ‘kangan’ lights, ‘jhoomar’ lights. Price of these lights range from Rs 50-450. Handmade lights are from Rs 50 to Rs 250,” Sujit was quoted as saying.
