Senior Citizens Block Road In Balasore Over Doctor Shortage

Balasore: A group of senior citizens blocked the road in front of Baliapal community health centre (CHC) here on Wednesday protesting against shortage of doctors in the healthcare institution.

The protestors did not allow any vehicle to ply on Baliapal-Gandhi Chhak road here for around two hours, leading to traffic jam.

“The residents of Baliapal, Jaleswar and nearby areas are suffering badly due to absence of doctors in the CHC. They have been deprived of proper healthcare services as many doctor posts in the government-run healthcare institution are lying vacant since long. Despite our repeated requests, no efforts have been made to fill up the vacant posts. The agitation will be intensified by involving intellectuals, locals and traders in the days to come, if the district administration remain callous towards our plight,” an agitator said.
