Jagatsinghpur: Vigilance sleuths apprehended a senior clerk of the tehsildar office in the district on bribe charge.
Following a complaint that Pranakrushna Nayak, the senior clerk of tehsildar office at Naugaon, was demanding a bribe of Rs 20,000 to release a sand loaded tripper, the Vigilance laid a trap.
As per the plan, the Vigilance officials nabbed Nayak while accepting the bribe money and seized the amount.
Following the incident, the Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case and launched an investigation. Simultaneous searches have been launched on properties of Nayak at Ohala and his office in Jagatsinghpur district.
Earlier, Nayak was also arrested by the Vigilance for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 3905.
