New Delhi: A senior Delhi government official has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act for allegedly raping his his friend’s 14-year-old daughter for several months and impregnating her.
The accused is currently serving as Deputy Director of Women and Child Development.
According to reports, the accused brought the Class XII student, who lost her father in 2020, to his home. It is alleged that the accused raped her several times between 2020 and 2021. When he found out that she had conceived, he told his wife, who then ordered abortion pills and terminated the pregnancy at home, as per the girl’s statement.
The girl later fell sick and was taken back by her mother, who later took her to doctors and specialists who found that the child was abused for months by the officer and his family. The girl’s mother found out about the rape after almost two years. She then called the police and child welfare authorities.
“As his wife also aided him in the act and did not report the matter to the police, we have added Section 120-B (criminal conspiracy) in the FIR against his wife,” a source was quoted by IANS as saying.
