Bhubaneswar: Senior IPS officer Arun Kumar Sarangi was on Saturday given additional charge of Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP).
Sarangi, a 1990 batch IPS officer of Odisha cadre, will remain DGP in-charge until regular DGP is appointed. Retirement of DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal is due on December 31, 2023.
“Arun Kumar Sarangi at present Special DG of Police, Training and Director, BPSPA, is allowed to remain in additional charge of DG of Police, Odisha until regular DGP joins,” said a notification of the Home department.
Sarangi was promoted to the DGP rank on May 3, 2023 along with his batchmates Sudhanshu Sarangi and YB Khurania.
He is presently acting as the Special DG of Police, Training, and Director of Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA).
