Bhubaneswar: Senior journalist Ranjit Guru died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital here on Saturday midnight.
He breathed his last around 12.30 am. The 61-year-old journalist was with Sambad in a senior editorial position. He was also associated with the leading newspapers like ‘Anandabazar Patrika’ and ‘The Asian Age’.
According to sources, Guru was admitted to the KIMS Hospital on August 1 after he suffered a viral infection.
In 2005, he had earlier undergone kidney transplant surgery.
His last rites will be performed in Sambalpur, the sources added.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief on the death of the senior journalist. “His contribution to journalism as well as Odia art and culture was immense,” he said.
