Senior OAS Officer Caught By Odisha Vigilance While Taking Rs 50000 Bribe

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance officials on Wednesday apprehended a senior OAS officer in Keonjhar for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a man for disbursing the compensation money of his land acquired for National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

The accused was identified as Sarat Kumar Giri, OAS -A (SB), LA (General) and Competent Authority for Land Acquisition in the Collectorate in Keonjhar, Vigilance said in a press release.

Giri was apprehended by Vigilance in his office while demanding and taking bribe of Rs 50,000. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of the accused and seized.

Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three places linked to Giri from Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

A case has been registered by the Vigilance and investigation is in progress.
