Bhubaneswar: The state government on Saturday appointed senior Odisha Finance Service (OFS) officer Umesh Chandra Tripathy as Additional Secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
According to a Finance Department notification, Tripathy, who was serving as additional secretary, Steel & Mines Department, has been transferred and post in the CMO as an Additional Secretary.
This came a day after Deputy CM K V Singhdeo told the media that the government may go for another vote-on-account before presenting the full budget for 2024-25. ““We will prepare our budget only after the Central budget is tabled in Parliament. We have to consider the allocations and funds made by the Centre in the budget before preparing our budget.”
The previous BJD government had placed a vote-on-account for the first four months of 2024-25 financial year because of the elections. Another vote-on-account for two to three months has to be presented to meet urgent requirements like salary and other matters. A decision in this regard will be taken by the chief minister, he added.
The budget session of the Odisha Assembly is likely to be convened after July 15.
Notably, CM Majhi has retained portfolios of Finance, Home, General Administration, Water Resources, and Information and Public Relations. He, however, is yet to pick his private secretary and principal secretary.
