Bhubaneswar: A senior bank manager allegedly committed suicide inside a rented accommodation at Baramunda Housing Board Colony here on Thursday.
She has been identified as Ranjita Rao, a senior UCO bank manager of the Ashok Nagar branch.
According to sources, it was her parents who first spotted the body. On being informed, Khandagiri police rushed to the rented house (MIG-31) and found the body hanging from the ceiling.
The body was later taken for postmortem. Police have registered an unnatural death case.
Talking to the mediapersons, the father of Ranjita, a native of Nabarangpur district, said he has no clue of the suicide of his daughter. “My daughter was mentally very strong. She used to enjoy her job and always eager to take the challenge. But all I know that she was physically very weak and she did not tell me what ailment she had. Three months ago, she had fainted while on duty at the bank and some of her colleagues had taken her to a doctor who prescribed some medicines to increase her haemoglobin count,” he added.
He also said that he and his wife used to visit her at regular intervals and stay with her in Bhubaneswar.
