Bengaluru/Bhubaneswar: Odisha women’s cricket team emerged as the plate group champions in the Senior Women’s T20 League after they beat Kerala by eight runs in a thrilling encounter in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Chasing a target of 109, Kerala was bowled out for 100 runs in 19.2 overs.
For Odisha, international spinner Rasanara Parwin, Sujata Mallick and Sushree Dibyadarshini bagged two wickets each while Priyanka Priyadarshini and Madhusmita Behera claimed one apiece.
Kerala opener Shani T scored the highest 48. However, she ran out of partners as wickets fell at regular intervals. Minnu Mani and Akshaya A added 20 and 17 runs respectively in the middle-order.
Opening batswomen Madhuri Meheta and skipper Madhusmita Behera put up 49 runs with 28 and 26 runs respectively to give Odisha a decent start. Besides, Pragyan Mohanty, Kadambini Mahakud and Sarita Meher scored 16, 12 and 15 runs respectively with the team finishing with a total of 108/5 in allotted 20 overs.
