Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to receive a fresh spell of heavy rainfall from September 26 due to a possible cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department said on Monday.
“One more cyclonic circulation is likely to form over East-central and adjoining Northeast Bay of Bengal around September 25. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and reach Odisha coast during the subsequent 48 hours. Under its influence, a fresh spell of heavy rainfall is likely over Odisha districts from September 26,” the Met office said.
The cyclonic circulation that was formed over the Bay of Bengal last week now lies over Gangetic West Bengal and neighbourhood and extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level, it added.

Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershower had occurred at most places in North Interior Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two places in Kalahandi, Ganjam, Balasore and Sambalpur in the past 24 hours.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at one or two places in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Nuapada, Balangir, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Koraput and Malkangiri till 8.30 am on Tuesday.
Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Sonepur, Sambalpur and Deogarh are likely to experience heavy rainfall till 8.30 am on September 22.
Yellow warning has been issued for these two days.
