Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police have arrested a 45-year-old man, who turned out to be a serial killer.

Maina Ramulu, a labourer, was on Tuesday held for murdering two women.

Police then found out that he had been involved in the murders of 16 other women. While serving life imprisonment in one of those cases, Ramulu managed to break out of jail, Hyderabad-based Urdu newspaper The Siasat Daily reported.

According to Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, the man became vindictive against women ever since his wife eloped with another person.

He started targeting women and trapped them by offering money for sex. He would then kill them and snatch valuables belonging to them.

His luck finally ran out earlier this month after a labourer’s wife went missing.

Hyderabad and Rachakonda police, while investigating the case, took the help of CCTV footage to discover how the killer had trapped the woman.

It didn’t take long thereafter to catch the culprit of multiple murders.
