Bhubaneswar: The contractual high school teachers of Odisha have decided to stage a demonstration in Bhubaneswar on April 3.
The Odisha Government High School CBT Teachers’ Association, in a release on Friday, said the state government had announced in October last year to abolish contractual service of its employees and regularise their services.
While the government has regularised the services of its contractual staff in other departments, those of School and Mass Education department have been deprived of the benefit.
The Association pointed out that the services of the teachers of 2016-22 batch working under the department have not been regularised till date. As a result, around 18,000 high school CBT teachers feel discriminated against their counterparts of other departments, said Rajendra Mallik, president of the Association.
“In order to draw the attention of the government towards its negligence to the high school teachers, we would stage a demonstration at Lower PMG Square in Bhubaneswar on April 3,” he added.
