Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Tuesday said preparation for the COVID-19 vaccination is complete.
Director, Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said a total of 29,000 sessions sites in the state have been selected for the vaccination. As the database of 3.27 lakh health workers has been prepared for the vaccination in the first phase, some sites will remain open.
“The Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare in a letter to the district collectors, commissioners of the Municipal Corporation on Monday had told them to conduct the feasibility study of the sessions sites to ensure whether the waiting room, vaccination room and observation room in these sites are kept ready for the vaccination,” he added.
Referring to the procedure of the vaccination as per the directive of the Centre, Panigrahi said the details of people coming to the session sites will be verified from the database in the waiting room. After the verification they will be vaccinated in the vaccination room after checking their health history. They will be then be shifted to the observation room for 30 minutes to study the side effects of vaccination. If there are no side effects, they will be allowed to leave.
Panigrahi also informed that the vaccine will be administered on the arm below the shoulder.
Talking about the steps taken by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the vaccination, BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said 18 major hospitals, 26 primary health centres (PHCs) and community health centres (CHCs) have been identified as the session sites where arrangements have been made for vaccination of 25,000-27,000 health workers as per the government guidelines.
