Sambalpur: In a tragic incident, a minor girl was killed while four others sustained critical injuries after the wall of Rengalibeda Sevashram in Deogarh district collapsed on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Rashmita Pradhan (10). Those injured, Kajal Sahu, Kajal Mahare, Ajodhya Penthei and Ombharati Pradhan, were admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Two among them were later shifted to VIMSAR in Burla when their condition detriorated.
The incident occurred when the children were playing inside the sevashram. Residesnts suspect that the wall collapsed following incessant rain.
Irked over the incident, some locals blocked National Highway-53 at Rengalibeda demanding adequate compensation to the family of the deceased and injured.
