Two Minors Among 7 Held For Attack On Utkal University Student In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Seven persons, including two minors, were arrested for a brutal assault on an Utkal University student in the city’s Unit-9 area, the Commisionerate Police tweeted on Monday.

Saheed Nagar police arrested the accused on Sunday night and seized three bikes from their possession, the tweet informed. Efforts are on to nab the others involved in the attack, it added.

Around 15-20 miscreants had reportedly attacked the student, P Akash Dora, with sharp weapons when he was with some friends at at Srikala Ground in Unit-9 area around 10 pm on Saturday.

Dora’s friends immediately informed police, who came to the spot and took the grievously injured youth to  Sparsh Hospital at Saheed Nagar. As his condition deteriorated, he was later shifted to KIMS at Patia.

Earlier on Sunday, the victim’s mother, Sabita Dora, told the media that some non-students had targeted her son during a recent group clash in the university.
