Jagannath Temple in Puri
Puri: Singhadwara police on Monday detained seven pilgrims for
allegedly taking selfie inside Puri Jagannath Temple.
The pilgrims hailing from Jharkhand, West Bengal and Haryana were
caught by police after they were found taking selfie with their
smartphones. The cell phones were seized and those detained being
questioned.
However, the detainees said that they were not prevented from by the
police personnel from carrying mobile phones into the temple.
The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has imposed a
complete ban on entry of smartphones inside the 12th century shrine to
curb the photographs of the temple premises going viral on social
media platforms.
