Sundargarh: Biramitrapur police on Wednesday arrested five more accused in the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl of Harpali slum in Sundargarh district, taking the total number of arrests to seven.
Two other accused were arrested earlier on Tuesday. Police have launched a manhunt for three other accused who are absconding.
The incident had taken place on July 8 while the teenager was returning home after attending a wedding ceremony. She was abducted and raped by 10 miscreants inside a forest near Harpali slum. The miscreants also recorded a video of the crime and uploaded it on social media.
However, the matter only came to light on July 22 after the victim’s family lodged a police complaint.
