Konark: Police rescued seven girls and detained nine youths after conducting raids at different hotels and lodges in Konark of Puri district late on Saturday.
Of the seven rescued, two girls hail from West Bengal. Prima facie it appears that the hotel owners were importing girls from outside the state to attract more customers for flesh trade, a police officer said.
The 15-member police team carried simultaneous raids after getting specific information that flesh trade was going on at various hotels and lodges in Konark.
Investigations and interrogation of the detainees are on to trace out the links of other people associated with the flesh trade racket.
