Berhampur: Seven youths were arrested for forging age certificates during the Indian Army recruitment rally at Rangeilunda airstrip in the Ganjam district.
The Army Recruitment Officer of Gopalpur detected the fraud during the scrutiny of documents. The officer found that the youths had two Class X certificates issued by two different boards.
The certificates showed different dates of birth. Following a probe, it was found that the accused had earlier applied for the Indian Army job by showing certificates issued by the Board of Secondary Education, Cuttack.
However, they failed to qualify as the date of birth on the certificate proved that they had exceeded the age limit for the recruitment examination.
The candidates then got admitted in the National Institute of Open Schooling and secured another certificate for Class X with a different date of birth which qualified them for the recruitment exam.
