Khurda: Seven persons were severely burnt in an LPG cylinder blast in Khurda district on Thursday morning.
The mishap occured in the house of one Rabindra Pradhan at Gambharimunda near Banpur.
Sources said the cylinder had caught fire due to leakage of gas. Rabindra’s family raised an alarm and six neighbours rushed in to help douse the fire. But the cylinder suddenly exploded, injuring the six neighbours and a family member of Rabindra.
Following information, Fire Services personnel from Banpur rushed to the village and doused the fire.
The six injured neighbours were admitted to the community health centre (CHC) at Gambharimund and the family member taken to the CHC at Banpur. But their condition became critical and they were shifted to hospitals in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
