Dantewada: Seven jawans were killed after their vehicle was blown off in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast at Dantewada in Chhattishgarh on Sunday.
The blast took place around noon when a joint team of Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) and the District Force was patrolling the route to provide security to trucks, carrying construction materials for road work between Kirandul and Palnar villages.
While five personnel died on spot, two of them succumbed to injuries during treatment.
As per information, the intensity of the blast was enough to toss a police vehicle parked nearby.
After the attack, the Maoists looted automatic weapons, AK-47s and self-loading rifles.
Addressing the media after the attack, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Rama Singh said, “We condemn the Maoist attack at Dantewada. The ultras try to stop development and target jawans. We will give a befitting reply to them.”
