Bhawanipatna/Rayagada/Berhampur: Seven persons died in separate road accidents in Odisha late on Wednesday.
According to sources, three youths of Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district died and another youth was seriously injured after two motorcycles collided head-on near Fafsi Chhak under Madanpur-Rampur police limits.
Of the three youths, Prasanna Majhi of Ranipata died on the spot and Sanotosh Dakua of Collegepada breathed his last on the way to the district headquarters hospital while Akash Majhi of Salepada succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The condition of the injured youth is critical, hospital sources said.
Similarly, two persons died on the spot after the rider rammed the bike into a stationary tractor near Anguru in Rayagada district around 11 pm. The deceased have been identified as Brundaban Karkaria and Sanjay Karkaria of Kurtheli village of Kalyansinghpur block. The accident took place while they were returning to their village after finishing duty at a hotel in Rayagada town.
Apart from this, a couple of Gunda village under Patrapur block in Ganjam district died on the spot after a speeding truck ran over their moped near Besi village in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh in the early hours of Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Bhagaban Chaini and his wife Bharati. The mishap took place when they were on their way to a relative’s place.
