Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri Police on Friday arrested seven transgenders on charges of assaulting a ‘saint’.
The incident took place on Thursday when the saint objected to the group of transgenders entering his ashram at Ghatikia. Irked over this, 10 of them reportedly barged into the ashram and dragged him to the road. They allegedly stripped and assaulted him.
Police rushed to the spot and rescued the saint, sources said.
A case was registered at Khandagiri police station after a video featuring the entire incident went viral.
The transgenders, on the other hand, alleged that the Baba misbehaved with them.
Police investigation is on.
