Dhenkanal: Train service was disrupted at the Dhenkanal Railway Station as members of several outfits including lawyers association staged a rail roko at the station, on Saturday, demanding halt of Rajdhani Express at the station.
The agitators including representatives of the District Bar Association, different political parties and civil society organisations detained Rajdhani Express at the station.
They also observed a six-hour bandh in Dhenkanal town to press for their demands. Several shops and other establishments remained closed partially affecting normal life in the locality.
“Stoppage of Rajdhani Express has been a longstanding demand of the local residents. Despite several requests, the district administration does not pay any heed to our demand. We will intensify our agitation, if the administration fails to consider the demand at the earliest”, one of the protestors said.
