Kolkata: At least 40 passengers were injured, 12 of them seriously, when a SpiceJet flight from Mumbai to Durgapur in West Bengal hit severe turbulence while descending to land on Sunday evening.
The passengers were injured by falling cabin baggage when the Boeing 737-800, operating flight SG-945, hit turbulence. All the injured passengers, some of whom suffered head injuries, are out of danger and stable now.
There were 188 passengers onboard.
The aircraft, which had taken off from Mumbai shortly after 5 pm on Sunday, landed safely at Durgapur’s Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport at 7.15 pm.
