Malkangiri: Important documents and records were reduced to ashes in a major fire at collector’s office in Malkangiri on Thursday.
The incident took place around 3 pm and all employees were evacuated unharmed. It took two fire tenders more than two hours to douse the flames.
“The actual financial loss is being ascertained. The gutted documents include land records relating to forest right committees,” an official informed.
An electrical short circuit suspected to have caused the fire, the official added.
