Nuapada: Severed body of a veterinarian was recovered near Parasakhola village under Sadar block in this district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Nayan Singh Majhi (55). He was working as deputy director at Nuapada District Veterinary Hospital.
The body was found on the tracks near a banana farm, where he had gone the previous evening. When he did not return home last night, his family frantically searched for him and finally found his severed body.
Government Railway Police (GRP) and Nuapada Town police seized the body and sent it for postmortem. It was later handed over to the family of the veterinarian.
It is suspected that Majhi died after being run over by a train. Investigation is on to ascertain the exact cause of his death, police sources said.
