Bhawanipatna: The Town Police of Bhawanipatna on Wednesday, busted an alleged sex racket operating in Naktiguda colony and arrested four customers including a middleman in this connection.
The police have also detained five women, whose statements will be recorded after medical examination. They had been brought from Kolkata, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda by the middleman.
SP (Kalahandi) Battula Gangadhar told the media that the main accused, P Jaipalam alias Thalam, a native of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, had been operating the sex racket by hiring a rented house in the region for the last couple of months.
“After receiving a complaint, a police team was formed. The raid was conducted at 12.30 am, on Tuesday night, in which nine mobiles along with three bikes, wine bottles and Rs 2500 were seized,” the SP said adding the house owner will also be arrested. He is absconding at the moment.
The four persons were forwarded to a local court, where their bail petitions were rejected. Further investigation into the case is underway, police officials said.
