Malkangiri: Police have busted a sex racket in Malkangiri district and arrested eight persons including two women.
Acting on a tip-off, the Town Police raided Takabadi Sahi and Mallikeswar Colony on Saturday.
The arrested persons will be forwarded to a court on Sunday, police said.
According to police a sex racket was going on for some months in a rented house in Mallikeswar Colony, where some women from Sambalpur were engaged in the flesh trade. Besides, middlemen were running a racket at Tekabadi Sahi with some women hired from Kolkata.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested middlemen used to contact customers after sharing the photos of the sex workers on WhatsApp.
