Dhenkanal: The Sadar Police on Tuesday took the managing director of Good News India, an NGO, Fayaz Rahman on two-day remand for interrogation in the alleged sexual harassment of minor girls at a shelter home in Dhenkanal district.
The Special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court, where he was produced on Monday following his arrest, had allowed the Sadar Police to take him on two-day from Tuesday.
Sources said that the police would grill Rahman about the alleged sexual harassment of the minor girls and boys at the shelter home and involvement of his NGO in religious conversion. Apart from this, police would also try to ascertain his foreign links and seek details about the permission he had obtained to set up the shelter homes at 22 places in the state. Police will also ask him about his source of funding.
The investigation revealed that Rahman, a native of Kolkata, had obtained the US citizenship where his family is settled.
Till reports last came in, police had begun his interrogation at an unknown place.
He would be produced in the court at 5 pm on Wednesday on completion of the remand period.
