Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Karnataka Police has filed a 2,144-page chargesheet against former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna for rape and his father and MLA, HD Revanna, for sexual harassment.
Revanna, the grandson of former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, is facing charges of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation based on a complaint by a woman who worked as domestic help at his house.
There have been several allegations against Prajwal after that, with SIT registering a fourth case against the former Lok Sabha MP from Hassan for sexual harassment, stalking and criminal intimidation of a victim and also recording and sharing her images.
The previous cases registered against Prajwal invoked section for sexual assault under the Indian Penal Code (now BNS).
The chargesheet, submitted late on Friday, includes statements of 137 witnesses. It provides graphic details of the son and father’s crimes, including sexual abuse, rape and intimidation of a woman employed in the Revanna household, Hindustan Times quoted a police officer as saying.
The chargesheet includes spot inspection, biological, physical, scientific, mobile, digital and technical evidence to support the allegations against the two.
The SIT probe revealed that Prajwal had a history of sexually harassing women, recording the assaults and using the footage to blackmail them, the officer said.
Prajwal left the country on April 26 — after polling in his constituency was completed – as obscene videos allegedly involving him surfaced on social media platforms. He was arrested from the Bengaluru airport on returning to India on May 31.
