Cuttack: The Gender Sensitisation Committee of Ravenshaw University has found prima facie evidence against Assistant Professor Alekh Sutar, who was accused of sexually harassing a girl student.
On the basis of the report, the varsity’s Statute Committee has been asked for suggestions on further disciplinary action against the teacher. “The assistant professor’s suspension will continue while necessary action will be taken based on the existing varsity statute,” Vice-Chancellor Prof Prakash Kumar Sarangi said here on Friday.
An undergraduate student had brought sexual harassment charges against the teacher on July 29. Sutar was placed under suspension the following day and the Committee was asked to probe and submit a report on it. Statements of the teacher and the victim student were recorded on July 31.
Varsity sources said the disciplinary committee is also investigating the matter and the assistant professor will be given a chance to put forth his stand.
