Sexual harassment slur on Ravenshaw professor

Cuttack: An assistant professor of Ravenshaw University here landed in a soup after a student brought allegation of sexually harassment against him.
Besides suspending Assistant Professor Alekh Sutar of PG department of Chemistry, Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prakash Sarangi on Sunday issued a show-cause notice to him after the girl approached the authorities with a complaint, varsity sources said.
“The Sexual Harassment Cell of the varsity is investigate the matter. Action will be taken on the basis of the probe report,” said Sarangi.
Meanwhile, Sutar has been asked not to leave the headquarters without permission. During the period of suspension, the headquarters of the assistant professor shall be the office of the registrar. However, he will be entitled to the payment of subsistence allowance, the sources added.
