Dhenkanal: A sexually-harassed minor girl from Bhapur area in Dhenkanal district committed suicide on Thursday by consuming pesticides.
The mother of the victim told mediapersons that she had lodged a complaint with the police after a village youth had sexually harassed her daughter on July 6. But the police did not take any action against the youngster, who again harassed her daughter.
Frustrated by the inaction of police, she committed suicide in the afternoon by consuming pesticides.
Dhenkanal SP Anupama James said she has ordered a probe into the inaction of Bhapur police and that the accused will be arrested very soon.
