Mumbai: Huma Qureshi has finally addressed the rumours linking her to actor and acting coach Rachit Singh.
Amid ongoing speculation about her personal life and the release of her maiden production ‘Baby Do Die Do’, the actor said she is currently focused on work and believes marriage will happen when the time is right.
“You and my mum have the same questions! I don’t have an answer to when the wedding is going to happen. Shaadi jab honi hogi tab ho jayegi; I have a lot of work to do. This is a very busy year and, right now, I am just focusing on that,” Huma was quoted as saying by HT.
Opening up about the challenges of turning producer, Huma described it as a “high-risk, high-reward” business.
She said, “It is exciting because you get to be the creator and keeper of your IP. I feel every creative person should produce a film once to understand the entire process.”
She further explained that unlike an actor’s role, a producer is responsible for every aspect of filmmaking.
“As an actor, your job is largely in front of the camera. A producer, however, is responsible for everything needed to make a project happen. Sometimes, even somebody’s temperament becomes your problem. It is a humbling experience and teaches you the value of time, money and professionalism,” she added.
Talking about creating opportunities through their production venture, Huma said, “Saleem Siblings is our little brother-sister cottage industry, through which we hope to create interesting projects with like-minded people. We may not have mammoth budgets, but not every story needs ₹150 crore to be made. Some stories need only a fraction of that amount and can still be engaging.”
She also shared that ‘Baby Do Die Do’ continues to receive a positive response, adding that the film is in its fifth week and is still getting theatrical shows.
Addressing her recent visit to the students’ protests, Huma admitted that she was aware of the possible criticism surrounding the move.
She said she understood that some people might view it as a promotional tactic or advise her to stay away, but she chose to support the students.
The actor revealed that she and her team visited the protest site quietly at 2 am without clicking pictures or informing the media.
Clarifying that she is not associated with any political party or movement, Huma said she was moved by the students’ situation and avoided making a public statement as her words could have been misinterpreted.
