Mumbai: At the premiere launch event of Aryan Khan’s directorial debut ‘Ba***ds Of Bollywood’ on Wednesday, Shah Rukh Khan urged fans to shower love and blessings on his son.
Inviting Aryan on stage to address the media, an emotional Shah Rukh said: “Main bohot shukraguzaar hoon Mumbai ki is pavitra dharti ka, is desh ki pavitra dharti ka, jisne mujhe mauka diya ki main aap logon ko 30 saal tak entertain karne ki koshish kar sakun. Aaj bohot khaas din hai, kyunki isi pavitra dharti par mera beta bhi apna pehla kadam rakh raha hai. Bohot accha ladka hai. (I am very grateful to Mumbai, and my country, which gave me the opportunity to entertain you for 30 years. Today is a very special day because in this city, my son going to start his professional journey. He’s a very good boy.)”
He continued, “Toh aaj jab woh aapke saamne aayega, aur agar aapko uska kaam accha lage, toh uske liye taaliyan bajaiyega. Aur un taaliyon mein thodi si dua bhi rakhna, thodi si prarthna bhi rakhna. Aur jaise ki maine aapse pichli baar kaha tha, jo pyaar aap logon ne mujhe diya hai, uska 150% aap use dena. (So today, when he comes before you, and if you like his work, please applaud for him. And shower your blessings upon him and keep him in your prayers too. And as I had told you earlier, the love you have given me, give him 150% of that.)”
Ahead of the preview release, Shah Rukh revealed his first reaction when Aryan shared the idea of the show with him.
When Aryan said he wanted to create something ‘raw and edgy’, Shah Rukh wondered if he wanted to upload Mannat’s CCTV footage on YouTube.
“Mujhe laga kahin yeh Mannat ka CCTV toh nahi YouTube pe daal raha. But he was actually creating something fresh and unique, and I’l be honest, it took me a little while to reach, to really catch on and to catch the tone of the show. But once I did, I was completely drawn in and honestly, I’m really really happy about it. But not only about the show, the entire cast that has come together to tell this story, because it’s the characters that breathe life in the story and create magic onscreen,” the superstar shared.
Aryan said he was extremely nervous.
“Bohot nervous hu kyunki pehli baar main aap sabke saamne stage par aaya hu. Aur isliye do din aur teen raaton se main ye speech baar baar lagataar practice kiye jaa raha hu. In fact, main itna nervous hu ki maine teleprompter pe bhi likha diya hai. Just in case yaha ki bijli chale jaaye, main kaagaz ke tukde pe bhi likhke laaya hu. Torch ke saath. Aur agar tab bhi mujhse mistake ho jaaye, to Papa hain na! (I’m very nervous because this is the first time I’m standing on stage in front of all of you. That’s why I’ve been practicing this speech over and over again for the last two days and three nights. In fact, I’m so nervous that I’ve even put it on the teleprompter—just in case the electricity goes out here, I’ve also brought it written on a piece of paper. With a torch. And if even after all that I still make a mistake… well, my dad’s here, right?).”
He added, “Aur agar iss sab ke baad bhi mujhse galti ho jaaye, mujhe please maaf kardena. Ye mera first time hai. (And if after all this I still mess up, please forgive me. This is my first time).”
“We’ve tried to bring a lot of entertainment to a lot of people in a lot of places. After four years of hard work, countless discussions, and thousands of takes, this show is finally ready. And I want to thank the people without whom making this show would have been impossible,” Aryan concluded.
As soon as Aryan’s speech went viral, fans started drawing similarities between King Khan and him.
“Sounds jussssss like SRK,” wrote one fan.
Another one commented, “Srk voice= Aryan voice.”
The Netflix series ‘‘Ba***ds Of Bollywood’, stars Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor in key roles, and apparently revolves around the eccentric world of hustlers and dreamers who navigate the chaos of Bollywood.
