Bhubaneswar: Young writers Badal Mohanty and Shakti Mohanty will receive the prestigious Timepass Booker award for the year 2016 and 2017 respectively.
Badal Mohanty will get the award for his novel ‘Nattu’ and Shakti Mohanty for his story book titled ‘Casino’, announced writer and publisher Saroj Bal on Monday.
The publications house Timepass, founded by Bal, has been giving this annual literary award to Odia writers below the age of 45. The winners will be felicitated on Timepass annual day, informed Bal.
The award includes a citation and a memento.
Bharat Majhi’s book ‘Majhi Geeta’, Pragyanshree Rath’s novel ‘Darpan Sundari’ and Parambrahma Tripathy’s ‘Kichhi Kahibara Achhi’ have been selected for ‘Timepass bestseller’ award.
Besides, young bookworm Ajay Khuntia will get ‘Timepass Bahibandhu Sammana’. Jnanee Debashis Mishra’s poetry collection ‘Daga’ and poet Suryasnata Tripathy’s poetry collection, ‘A Samparka Emiti’ will receive ‘Timepass Swayamshri Sammana’. Both these books are published by the Timepass and have already been received Kendra Sahitya Akademi youth awards.
All the awards will be given at the 12th annual day of Timepass publication in July. Noted writer from across the country will attend the programme, informed Bal.
Notably, writer Sarada Prasad Mishra was the first recipient of the award in 2008. Writers Satyapriya Mahalik, Mamatamayee Choudhury, Tapan Mohapatra, Amaresh Biswal, Hiranmayee Mishra, Aditeswar Mishra and Ramakanta Samantray have also received this award.
